We have done a lot of exiting things in Thailand but one of my favorite were the sticky waterfalls. We went to the sticky waterfalls during our stay in Chaing Mai. At first I was not exited because I am not a big fan of hikes and my mom had told me we were hiking to a waterfall. We drove about one hour to the trail, but it turned out that the waterfall was right were we parked. We did not even have to hike!

As we started down to staircase to the bottom of the waterfall, I saw a rope attached to a tree that went down the waterfall. It was meant for climbing up and down the waterfall. Since I am a big fan of adventure, I wanted to try. This is the response I got, “That is for teenagers.”I was angry because I don’t like to be told that I am to small or young to do something. We walked to what looked like the bottom of the waterfall but discovered it was just another place to play in the water. I saw another rope leading down the next part of the waterfall. A couple were climbing and when they saw our eagerness to climb they told my mom that there was no way we would be able to climb it. This make me even more angry because what does that girl know.

My dad said that maybe we could climb up the waterfall instead of down. We went down the second staircase to where we would try to climb. I saw a bunch of teenage girls getting ready to climb. Suddenly I was doubting myself. If teenagers were even bothering to climb then we had not chance, also the waterfalls looked bigger than I thought. Still I put on sunscreen and got ready to climb.
I grabbed the rope and started up. As I started to climb, I realized that since the rocks that formed the waterfall were sticky, it was not as hard as I thought it would be. The
others were slower because they took a different way up so I kept climbing till I reached the top! I was so excited that I actually made it. My sister climbed up and one by one everyone else made it up too. Everyone wanted to do it again so we went down and this time did it without the rope!

Once I got to the top, I glanced at the couple and saw them talking. They looked at me surprisingly but then quickly covered it up. I smiled that told-you-I-could-do-it smile and joined my family in the pond. I gave my dad the same look to let him know that he should never tell me that something is for teenagers before I have tried to do it.
Well done!
